Haddo House

Haddo House is quite often closed to the public and visitors regularly have to wait a while before they can go on a tour. The brief was to create a display within the game larder that would enable visitors to get an understanding of the site’s heritage – mainly the history of the family who had lived there. This replaced something very makeshift that had been put together with A4 laminates.

Jo was keen all along that we would work with the octagonal layout of this very unusual building. We went for bespoke panels that sat around the windows, made use of existing architectural railings, and maintained natural light.

The design brief was to make strong use of striking visuals (from the House’s stunning art collections) to highlight key characters from Haddo’s past. Panels were placed thematically in the direction where they made most sense i.e. a panel about the theatre building sits next to the window from which you can see it.
