Josephine worked with the staff at Pollok, and Shirley at Tea and Type to transform a former office space into an engaging and attractive introductory exhibition.
The Property Manager was keen that more non-paying visitors who visit the tea-room on the ground floor would be inspired to explore the period rooms upstairs, and would at least have a chance to engage with the main themes of this House which apart from having amazing Spanish art collections and unusually well preserve service quarters, happens to be former home to Sir John Stirling-Maxwell who among other things, founded the National Trust for Scotland.
The displays made a feature of silhouettes of typical Edwardian below-stairs staff members which were reproduced at a human scale.
We included two interactives, an object identification table, and a dress up area with some props and a mirror. The space is always busy and staff are happy with how it is working.
