Dragonflies

This project was to highlight the fact that Castle Fraser’s Flight Pond is a very special place for dragonflies and to encourage visitors to enjoy watching them. As it is very likely you will see dragonflies there, (I wouldn’t be surprised if they land on this panel!) we were keen to make it very user friendly so an ID chart and tips on damselfly spotting were key.

The client was keen to share a lot of factual information so there was significant work involved in refining, and breaking up the content and sourcing helpful images and diagrams.

Not all of us know our darters from our hawkers so there was a fair bit of to-ing and fro-ing between myself and Juliette, the site’s volunteer dragonfly specialist to ensure we had all the images correctly labelled.

The style of the panel was in keeping with other interpretation at the site, a look which had been established through former projects working with former NTS in-house designer Liz Clark.
