Dundreggan Rewilding Centre

I was delighted to work with CMC Associates and Trees for Life to develop content for a new-build visitor centre in the Highlands that opened in 2023. Pop in if you get the chance. I highly recommend the food as well as the exhibition.

I worked on a variety of elements included digital interactives such as a quiz asking, ‘which Caledonian pine wood species are you’ and ‘Rewild yourself’, giving visitors ideas of what they might do to support the concept of rewilding. I also led on a wall exploring the wood-wibe-web and an area sharing success stories, and learned a great deal from the project’s team of ecologists throughout the process.

Interpretation was layered with totems giving concise and engaging introductions to top level themes within the welcome area. Representation of Gaelic culture and language was part of the brief, and Gaelic consultants were involved throughout. There was discussion at various stages about how best to do this, and I’m proud of what we eventually achieved, which I feel presents Gaelic as a living language as opposed to artefact, with high quality Gaelic writing and translation for those who wish to read that, as well as a layer of content woven through the English versions.
